Wright Partners: Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence

This year marks a significant milestone for Wright Partners as we celebrate 40 years of dedicated service. Since first opening our doors in May 1985 at 35 Bultje Street, Dubbo, under the leadership of Robert (Bob) Wright and his wife Sue, our firm has remained committed to providing exceptional accounting services. Bob founded the practice after working for Versatile Farm Equipment, a Canadian tractor manufacturer, and within the first week, he had already gained his first clients—many of whom remain with us today.

Growth and Expansion

In 1987, Bob and Sue (R.O. Wright & Co) expanded the firm by acquiring Don Lemsing’s small practice, which significantly contributed to the firm's growth. That same year, they relocated to 49 Bultje Street after purchasing the building—a location that continues to serve as our office today.

In the early 1990s, the practice merged with Bob Blundell’s firm, operating as Wright Blundell. This partnership lasted a few years until Bob Blundell took a position at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, leading to the sale of his client base to Brian Humphrys.

Our Team Through the Years

Over the decades, Wright Partners has seen a dynamic team of accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff contribute to its success. Notably, Beth Burge joined as an accountant within the first few weeks of opening, and Kerry Gordon worked as a bookkeeper at our original location. The firm has also provided valuable experience to university students, many of whom went on to become full-time employees or pursued other career paths.

Michael Shadwell initially joined the firm temporarily in 1997 before leaving for Mudgee, later returning to become a full-time member of the team from May 1998. Similarly, Mitchell Clark joined Wright Partners straight out of university in August 1997. In 2009.

Michael and Mitchell acquired the practice from Bob and Sue, officially rebranding it as Wright Partners in 2012.

Bob retired in March 2013, while Sue has continued to support the firm remotely as a debt collector from her home in Queensland—making this her 40th year with the firm as well.

Michael retired in August 2017, leaving Mitchell as the sole director of the practice.
